Bike mileage (fuel efficiency) tells you how many kilometres your motorcycle or scooty travels per litre of fuel. On Indian roads a two-wheeler is far more efficient than a car, but the real number you should care about isn't the spec sheet figure — it's what you actually get in stop-and-go traffic.
The formula
Mileage = distance (km) ÷ fuel consumed (liters)
For 200 km on 8 liters:
Mileage = 200 ÷ 8 = **25 km/l**
Cost per kilometre
Cost per km = (8 × ₹102) ÷ 200 = ₹4.08 per km
That ₹4 per km is the number that matters for your wallet. A daily 20 km commute (both ways) at 25 km/l and ₹102/litre costs roughly ₹164 per day, about ₹3,600 a month — far less than a car running the same route at 14 km/l (≈ ₹5,800 a month at the same prices).
